What's different from the beginner level

Intermediate canyoning in the Rhône-Alpes region is a step up in every way:

  • Longer, more exposed rappels —up to 25–30 meters, sometimes under a waterfall
  • Higher jumps —between 5 and 10 meters, depending on the canyon
  • Technical sections — narrows, swimming, descending rock faces
  • Greater commitment — certain sections are mandatory; no shortcuts allowed
  • Longer duration —allow 3 to 5 hours, all-inclusive
