Intermediate canyoning in the Rhône-Alpes region is a step up in every way:
🏔️ Near Annecy: The Bauges and Haute-Savoie canyons, featuring impressive vertical drops and a wild alpine atmosphere. Ideal for improving your skills after your first experience at the Chéran Canyon.
🏔️ Near Chambéry & Aix-les-Bains, the Chartreuse and Les Bauges regions are full of varied, technically challenging canyons for intermediate-level climbers, featuring rappels under waterfalls and challenging slides.
🏔️ Near Grenoble, the Vercors and Chartreuse mountains offer some of the most beautiful intermediate routes in France. High-altitude rappels, deep cirques, and spectacular limestone landscapes—all less than an hour from Grenoble.
🏔️ From Lyon: Several intermediate-level canyons in Isère and Savoie are accessible within 1 to 1.5 hours from Lyon. A full day of adventure without having to go away for the weekend.
Questions about our canyoning trips
The intermediate level involves longer rappels (up to 25–30 meters), more challenging jumps, and technical sections that require comfort in the water and at heights. Some sections are mandatory, unlike the beginner courses, where detours are always possible.

Allow between 2 and 5 hours in total, including gear setup, the approach hike, the canyon descent, and gear takedown. The descent itself takes between 1 hour and 30 minutes and 3 hours, depending on the route.
Yes, it’s actually one of the best areas in France for this skill level. The Vercors and Chartreuse regions offer exceptional intermediate-level canyons, all accessible from Grenoble in less than 45 minutes. Contact us to make a reservation.
Absolutely. Whether it’s with friends, a company group, or a family with teenagers, we organize intermediate-level canyoning outings for groups throughout the region. Group rates are available upon request.
