Why choose Annecy for canyoning?

Welcome to one of the best canyoning spots in France—and we’re not just saying that. Since the region is already stunning, you certainly won’t be exploring any dull gorges. Have you taken the time to visit Annecy? Now it’s time for canyoning! Just 30 minutes away, you’ll find the magnificent canyons carved into the limestone. A treat for the eyes: crystal-clear water and alpine landscapes that would make an albino salmon pale in comparison.

Combining water hiking and rock climbing, you’re off on a thrilling adventure among the waterfalls. Why choose this setting in the heart of Haute-Savoie?

  • An ideal location between the azure-blue lake and the mountains (we love La Tournette, Le Veyrier, and Le Parmelan!)
  • Ice-cold water—especially delicious and refreshing in the summer
  • The wild beauty of the surroundings and the delightful scents of yellow gentian, violets, and wild garlic

Come explore narrow ravines as we follow the riverbed together! Featuring:

  • Canyons that are easy to reach (no long hikes to get there)
  • Routes for all skill levels, from “I’ll give it a try, but I’m a little scared” to “Move over—I’m looking for rappels that are about a hundred meters long.”
  • A wide variety of activities: sliding down natural rock faces, jumping into pools, rappelling…

Our favorite routes around Annecy!

Yes, it's true—we have our favorite canyons. The ones that make us even more eager to get up in the morning with one clear goal in mind: to see you conquer the obstacles with a big smile on your face.

Angon Canyon

Even the Papuans must know about it. It’s impossible to miss, with its series of waterfalls (the largest of which, Angon Falls, is 65 meters high). With its combination of vertical cliffs and water crossings, it’s a perfect invitation to adventure! Why do we love it so much?

  • It's not difficult at all, so it's perfect for a first sporting experience
  • A variety of slides, jumps, and rappels in a refreshingly cool environment (like a fridge in the summer)
  • An incredible view of Lake Annecy

Pont du Diable Canyon (in the Bauges)

Don’t let the slightly spooky name of this canyon—located about 20 kilometers from Annecy—fool you. The rugged, rocky landscape, which literally captivates young and old alike, makes you feel miles away from your everyday worries. Follow the waters of the Bellecombe and Glapigny streams and discover with delight:

  • A rapid succession of jumps and slides (just enough time to catch your breath!)
  • A course that's both impressive and fun—perfect for beginners
  • Hbasins set up everywhere for splashing around in the crystal-clear waters

Ternèze Canyon

Do you dream of trying abseiling? Are you visiting Annecy with your family and looking for an activity that everyone will enjoy? We can’t wait to show you this super-accessible—and very short!—canyon. It’s all about easy, enjoyable fun in a fantastic setting in the heart of the Bauges: that’s what makes it so special.

  • Slides, giant whirlpools, small and large jumps up to 8 meters
  • A fun adventure that gets everyone—young and old—excited (and shouting with joy)
  • A very pleasant atmosphere in the woods, where calm reigns (or not, until the first splash)

Grenant Canyon

Head a little further southwest of Annecy for some incredible canyoning in the middle of the forest. What a treat! It’s got it all: slides, jumps, pools… All set against a backdrop of rock and greenery along the Grenant torrent. Perfect if you love Jurassic Park-style scenery (without the big, scary dinosaurs). You’ll love this canyon just as much as we do thanks to:

  • Its fun and dynamic side
  • His frequent (but never mandatory) jumps
  • Her fluid movements, as she slithers along like a cheerful little snake
