Why choose the Yaute Canyons?

Department 74 is our life-size playground. No one can resist its snow-capped mountains, sparkling lakes, and forests where conifers and deciduous trees grow side by side. Thrill-seekers have found their ideal region!

When it comes to canyoning, Haute-Savoie really stands out, with its rivers carved into limestone cliffs and its steep, enclosed waterfalls. Every descent turns into a moment of intense joy… and creates amazing memories. Not to mention the terrain:

  • The Bornes Massif, including La Tournette, Mont Veyrier, the Dents de Lanfon, and the Tête du Parmelan
  • The Bauges region, which includes the famous Semnoz (Annecy’s iconic mountain), the Trélod, the Arcalod, and the Pécloz, among others.

The best part: each canyon is just a few dozen minutes from Annecy. It’s a great way to explore this beautiful city and its lake!

Our Favorite Hiking Trails in Haute-Savoie

Near Annecy, anything goes—especially discoveries that make your eyes sparkle. We’ve put together a list of some water-themed spots that we particularly love.

In Les Bornes

Angon, the best known

A must-do! Perfect for safely getting started in canyoning. The magnificent Angon Waterfall adds a touch of magic. With pools, waterfalls, and caves in a pristine natural setting—what more could you ask for? Oh, right: the view of Lake Annecy. Thrills guaranteed for everyone.

The Long Canyon of Montmin

At the foot of La Tournette, this canyon combines geological features (faults, stalactites, caves, etc.) with numerous small obstacles to navigate—slides, jumps, and downclimbing. It’s a fantastic setting, best explored in the spring!

In the Bauges

The Devil's Bridge (terrifying only in name)

This natural gem in the Bauges Natural Park offers a rugged, rocky setting. With its impressive, steep gorges, the descent alternates between challenging sections requiring handrails, wading, and rappelling. It’s perfect for hot summer days.

The Chéran Canyon

The ultimate refreshing outing! Amid whitewater and limestone cliffs, you’ll make your way leisurely through lush green surroundings. On the agenda: hiking, swimming, and jumps ranging from 1 to 8 meters high (though not required) into the beautiful Chéran River.
